Checklist, Dates, and Deadlines

Please Note: Housing fills quickly based on the variance in numbers of new students admitted each year, therefore on-campus housing cannot be guaranteed to any class level.

Application Process:

The Housing Application System will be available on student's Portal/Housing Tab page beginning 9:00 am, Friday, March 14, 2008. Only students who “accept” their offer of Admission will be able to apply for on-campus housing. On-campus housing is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, as space and demand allow. On-campus housing options for incoming freshmen include double and triple rooms in Residence Halls and private bedrooms in apartments.

Students who complete the following steps will be considered for an on-campus housing space on a first-come, first-served basis as space and demand allow:

1. Accept their offer of admissions
2. Apply for housing on-line thru their Cal Poly Portal account beginning Friday, March 14, 2008, 9:00 am.
3. Pay for housing as soon as possible
4. Print and return "Student Housing License Agreement" with payment (or marked "by Financial Aid" as payment method) to the State Cashier

*Financial Aid - Students who have applied for financial aid can mark "Financial Aid" as the payment method on their “Student Housing License Agreement”. By choosing this payment option, housing and dining plan payments may be paid directly by Financial Aid. If the student's award falls below the amount needed, the Student Accounts office will notify the student of any additional fees due. For more information visit the Financial Aid website.

Checklist

“Accept” Cal Poly’s offer of admission

Apply on-line for housing starting 9:00 am, Friday, March 14, 2008. The Housing application is available to students who have accepted their offer of Admission, through the Cal Poly portal (my.calpoly.edu) by selecting the "Housing" tab, then the "Housing Application System"

Print and complete the “Student Housing License Agreement” - The license agreement is available to students who have accepted their offer of Admission, through the Cal Poly portal (my.calpoly.edu) by selecting the "Housing" tab, then the "Housing Application System" and completing the on-line Housing application.

Pay

• Payments and "License Agreements" are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Payments and “License Agreements” received after all spaces are filled will be returned.

**Payments can be made by one of the following methods:

1. "e-Check" (no fee) *online at www.afd.calpoly.edu/Student_Accounts/onlinepayments.htm.
2. Credit Card *online at www.afd.calpoly.edu/Student_Accounts/onlinepayments.htm. You will be charged a convenience fee of 2.9%. Sorry, VISA not accepted.
3. Students who expect to receive sufficient Financial Aid to cover both their estimated registration fees and housing cost can simply mark the box "Financial Aid" as method of payment
4. Attach a check or money order to the “Student Housing License Agreement.”

*Payments received after 4PM will be receipted on the following business day. If you experience any problems making your payment online, please contact the Student Accounts Office at 805.756.1428. If paying by Credit Card or "e-Check," a copy of the online receipt must be attached to the Student Housing License Agreement. Please allow at least 7 business days for processing

Students can check application status and payment history by re-accessing the "Housing Application System." Students who have secured on-campus housing will be sent a confirmation email. Please allow at least 7 business days for processing.

Submit the Meningococcal Disease Response Form to Cal Poly's Health Services. Link to Cal Poly's Health Services for details regarding meningococcal disease and current legislation. A "Meningococcal Disease Response Form" must be submitted prior to moving into on-campus Housing. "Response Form" available at http://www.hcs.calpoly.edu/MeningInfo.pdf

Submit Emergency/Medical Information online through the "Housing Application System." This information must be submitted before students will be permitted to view their room assignments on August 20. This information is in addition to Emergency Information students may already have submitted to Admissions.

Dates and Deadlines - 2008 (subject to change)
Feb. 1- Feb. 29, 2008	Housing application open to Early Decision students only.
March 14, 2008	Housing payment deadline for Early Decision students only.
March 14, 2008 9am (Friday)	Housing application opens to NEW regular Fall admitted students (see “Application Process Steps” above) who have been accommodated and have submitted their “admissions acceptance” with Cal Poly admissions. Housing Applications and payments accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
June 6, 2008 (Friday)	Last day to make preference changes to your Fall Housing application. To make changes, re-access the Housing Application through the Cal Poly portal (my.calpoly.edu). Edits to your application will not change the original housing application submission date.
August 13, 2008	Last day to cancel Fall Housing/Dining Plan contract without penalty. Students must submit a cancellation form 30 days prior to the move-in date to receive a full refund minus a five dollar installment fee.

August 20, 2008	Anytime prior to August 20, students can submit their Emergency Contact and Medical Information online through the "Housing Application System." This information must be submitted before students will be permitted to view their room assignments on August 20. This information is in addition to Emergency Information students may already have submitted to Admissions.
August 20, 2008	Room assignments for Fall Quarter posted online, after 9 am. To view room assignment, re-access your Housing application through the Cal Poly portal (my.calpoly.edu) then select the "Housing" tab to access the "Housing Application System."
August 29, 2008	Payment adjustment due from students assigned to the Cerro Vista apartments.
September 13 – 14, 2008 (9am-6pm/Sat-Sun)	Residence Halls & Cerro Vista Apartments open for Fall Quarter 2008. Students must show photo ID before receiving their room key.
September 15 –19, 2008 (Mon - Fri)	WOW (Week of Welcome orientation) begins.
September 15 – 21, 2008 (12noon to 6pm) (Mon - Sun)	Residence Halls & Cerro Vista Apartments open for Fall Quarter 2008. Students must show photo ID before receiving their room key.
September 22, 2008 (Monday)	Fall Quarter classes begin.
