Cultural Inclusion

A positive housing community is inclusive, respectful, and provides its members with a sense of safety. University Housing is committed to creating safe and welcoming communities for all residents and staff members, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, ability, socio-economic status, and veteran status. Students residing in on-campus housing have responsibilities not only to themselves but also to the larger community.

Becoming an Ally in the Cal Poly Community

As leaders in the 21st Century, we must learn to celebrate differences among us and to develop skills that allow us to live and learn together. The University Housing experience provides students with opportunities to celebrate who they are and to be educated about others.

University Housing sponsors two campaigns, In Our Home and the campus Civility Campaign, to remind students of the importance of a respectful and inclusive community. Additionally, University Housing sponsors several diversity programs each quarter and supports the programs of our campus partners. More information on these campaigns and programs may be found in this section.
