Television

Students have a choice to view television programs via computer or “digital-ready” television. Students need to provide their own computer, computer cable, TV and/or coaxial cable. When connected to the campus Internet system, students will log in via the provider website: watch.philo.com. Individual Philo Edu log-in information is provided at move-in. Each student may utilize the recording capabilities offered through the Philo Edu website for up to 20 hours of independent recording.

Every room is equipped with “digital-ready” cable television access. The television must be “digital-ready” to receive the digital signal. Older televisions may require a digital conversion box, which students need to provide. No exterior antennas, aerials, satellite dishes, signs, wires, or similar objects are to be attached or erected in the apartment complex. Residents may report cable problems or request service by submitting an online service request or by contacting their front desk.

Custodial Staff

The Housing Services Custodial Staff are the reason Cal Poly residence halls and apartments are clean and well maintained. They are responsible to keep the facilities clean and sanitary for the residents. The custodians are kept busy eight hours a day, five days a week, as well as sixteen hours for the weekend crew. Their duties include scrubbing, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, shampooing, and other essential tasks that are hard work.
The custodians must work harder and longer when residents do not pick up after themselves. The custodians must clean up excess messes in addition to their regular duties. In situations such as these, charges will be assessed. Spilled popcorn and drinks in hallways and lounges, stacked furniture, or a trashed lounge can be expensive.

Key Services

Housing Services provides all key control and tracking for the residence halls and apartments, including the programming of the electronic locks and access cards.

Poly Canyon Village Knowledge Center - media:scape Collaboration Tools

media:scape is furniture and technology merged to help students collaborate, share ideas and learn more effectively. Through the integration of furniture and technology, media:scape is reshaping the way students collaborate in a connected world.
media:scape boosts collaboration across the table or across the globe by transforming classrooms, libraries or social spaces, connecting students, and sharing information seamlessly in dynamic new ways.
Most collaborative spaces today support leader-led presentations where information is controlled and shared by one person at a time. media:scape removes these barriers and democratizes how people access and share information by allowing all participants to contribute their ideas equally, quickly and seamlessly.

How it works
media:scape was designed for a “walk-up and connect” experience:

Open the media well and remove a Puck™
Connect the Puck™ to your laptop
Share what's on your laptop by pressing the Puck™
Open. Connect. Share. (opens youtube video)
