Queer Connections Housing

Created in partnership with the Cal Poly Pride Center, Queer Connections (formerly called Queer-affirming) rooms are one way we support all students in exploring their gender identity and connecting to LGBTQ+ culture.
Queer Connections rooms refers to specific residential rooms/apartments and not to floors, buildings, or residential learning communities. Queer Connections is a room profile option available in the Housing application to all students, regardless of Residential Learning Community (RLC) preference.
Please note students will not be able to choose to share a space in a Queer Connections room with someone who has not selected this option. It is the student's responsibility to discuss this, if applicable, with their potential roommates. Cal Poly will not disclose my information with others.

Can a parent influence placement?
Cal Poly respects the decisions and confidentiality of students as they complete their housing contract, in accordance with FERPA guidelines. Students can contact Housing Administration at 805-756-1226 with questions or concerns.
Is living in Queer Connections housing protected information?
Yes, even if supporters/family financially support a student, this information won’t be shared as it is protected by FERPA.

Bathroom and shower layouts vary from community to community, and sometimes even from building to building. Take a look at all of them here.
All students, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin, who are interested in Queer Connections spaces are welcome to participate.
