Student Housing

We are committed to offering a two-year, high-quality campus living and educational environment to Cal Poly students based on availability. University Housing is dedicated to providing housing to all new students; however, with student numbers varying each year, our ability to meet the demand may fluctuate, so pay attention to dates and schedules.

All admitted, first-time first-years are required to live on campus their first year to ensure everyone receives the benefit of the campus housing experience. Exemptions from the residential requirement will be considered based upon the First-year On-Campus Living Exemption Policy.

Campus Housing Learning Communities are located in double, triple and quad rooms in residence halls and private bedrooms and shared bedrooms in the campus apartments.

Students who secure housing by completing all of the following steps will be considered for campus housing:
1.  Apply for campus housing online.
2.  Pay the initial Housing & Dining payment.
3.  Submit application.

Apply:

The Housing Application is located on the student's Cal Poly portal in University Housing.

Payments:

Housing payments are made through Student Accounts. Parents can make payments through the Student Accounts website. Students can pay through their Cal Poly Portal under the Money Matters tab. Payments and License Agreements received after all spaces are filled will be returned.

Disabilities or Special Needs:

If a student expects they may need a housing accommodation based on a disability, such as a specific room type, assistance animal, or specific assignment location, they must first contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC) at drc@calpoly.edu. The DRC will collect medical information and any required documentation and notify University Housing of any accommodation recommendations.

Dining Plans:

Dining plans are offered through Campus Dining.  All first-years living in campus housing are required to purchase a dining plan. Continuing, transfer, and international students living in campus housing are not required to purchase a dining plan. For campus dining options visit the Campus Dining website

Cancellations:

30 days prior to move-in, first-year students may cancel their campus housing without financial penalty. After move in, campus housing cancellation requests must meet specific requirements and may or may not be granted due to CSU policies. For more information regarding housing cancellations, please refer to the “Cancellation” section of the Terms and Conditions of the Housing Agreement available on the Policies page at housing.calpoly.edu or email housing@calpoly.edu.
